A keycap’s material describes the plastic used for its shell. PBT and ABS are two common choices. Neither name tells you the key sizes, row shapes or switch mounting system.
Read the specification in three parts
- Material: PBT or ABS.
- Profile: the height and shape, such as OEM or Cherry.
- Printing: how the legends or artwork are made.
You can find different combinations of these specifications. Choose from the information on the individual product page rather than assuming a particular material always uses one profile or printing method.
Before you choose
Check the kit image, layout and switch compatibility as well as the material. If a specification is missing, ask us about the keycap set.
