Keycap printing: dye-sub and double-shot

Keycap printing: dye-sub and double-shot
October 13, 2026

Printing or manufacturing method describes how the legends and artwork are made. It is separate from the plastic material and keycap profile.

Dye-sublimation

Dye-sub uses heat to transfer dye into the keycap’s plastic surface. It is commonly used for printed legends and illustrated designs.

Double-shot

Double-shot molding uses two plastic components to form the shell and legend. It is a different process from printing artwork with dye.

What to check on the product page

  • Confirm the listed production method.
  • Look at the kit image for the actual legends and artwork.
  • Check whether shine-through lighting is explicitly supported; do not infer it from the method alone.

For questions about a particular design, contact us with the keycap set’s name.
